Compliance has a high priority over the entire lifecycle of our products. Through our Product Compliance Management System, PCMS for short, we want to safeguard the legal and regulatory conformity of our products right from the start of the development process. At the same time, we make sure that we consider the increasing complexity of the regulatory environment, major technological changes within the automotive industry, and changing requirements of our customers and society.
Our Product Compliance Management System (PCMS)
For us, product compliance means that our products adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, standards, and laws, as well as to our internal Daimler Truck standards, guidelines, and processes. We have introduced a PCMS in our organization to preventively address the specific compliance risks associated with product development, manufacturing, sales and marketing and service.
PCMS is based on the existing Daimler Truck Compliance Management System and has been expanded with measures and processes to address specific product-related risks. It defines a worldwide binding Daimler Truck standard that is geared towards national and international standards. We regularly monitor the effectiveness of PCMS and ensure its continuous development.

Developing in a compliant and responsible manner
PCMS provides our employees orientation and guidance in the form of technical and legal advice from different experts right from the start of the product development phase, especially when it comes to complex questions regarding the interpretation of technical regulations.
We also support our employees by defining guiding principles of compliant behavior for their day-to-day work: Our Daimler Truck Code of Conduct, our guideline to doing the right thing, defines and promotes a culture in which issues and concerns are taken seriously and can be openly addressed.

Technology and law working together
Group-wide, PCMS is managed by the Legal & Compliance Product & Technology unit, whose head reports directly to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of Daimler Truck AG. In addition to the design and governance of PCMS, their tasks also include the provision of legal assessment and advice to the divisions. The global PCMS Organization consists of employees from different business functions, for example, product development, homologation, quality management, after sales, legal and compliance.
The group-wide established and well-known PCMS organization assists employees in case of questions related to product compliance. Especially within product development units, dedicated teams of technical experts are set up to provide day-to-day support. Complex questions are evaluated and decided in an interdisciplinary process that considers technical, legal, regulatory, and reputational criteria. For reporting of potential product compliance violations, the Daimler Truck Whistleblowing System SpeakUp is also available as a contact partner.
Training and informing our employees regarding Product Compliance
Through a specific training catalog, dialogue events, and communication measures, we regularly inform and train our employees regarding product compliance and legal topics. This way, we help them behave in a compliant way in daily business and provide information about supporting points of contact.
Furthermore, we conduct on demand in-depth discussions on safeguarding product compliance with selected business partners and suppliers. The aim of these dialogues is, among other things, to raise awareness of the legal and regulatory environment and to communicate how Daimler Truck ensures product compliance. At the same time, we make Daimler Truck’s expectations towards suppliers clear.
