Already next year, we plan to include series-produced trucks and busses with battery-electric drive in our vehicle portfolio in our main sales regions Europe, USA and Japan. In the second half of the 2020s, we want to extend our series production portfolio to fuel cell trucks. By 2039, our ambition is to offer only new vehicles that are CO₂-neutral in driving operation (“from tank to wheel”) in Europe, North America and Japan. To fight climate change, we also need our global production to become CO₂-neutral until 2050.

Since 2022, we have been producing with a CO₂-neutral balance sheet in Europe. From 2025, the USA, India and Japan are set to follow. And by 2039, we want to achieve CO₂-neutral production at all our plants and in all our business units worldwide.

We aim to achieve these goals by using several building blocks, such as increasing energy efficiency, increasing the use of renewable energies and the temporary use of CO₂ carbon offsetting certificates. 

Another topic we’ll work on regarding our production is the use of primary resources in our production.

We also want our supply chain to be sustainable. We expect all our suppliers to work in line with regulatory requirements to protect the environment. And we require our direct suppliers to comply with our company’s Business Partner Standards.
